Slippery Stones – Upper Derwent Valley

Slippery Stones is a hidden gem in the Upper Derwent Valley, where the River Derwent flows over smooth rocks and into natural swimming holes. It’s a gentle walk from the Kings Tree car park, making it accessible for families and casual walkers. The water is clear and cool, framed by woodland and moorland, with mini waterfalls adding to the soundtrack.

This is one of the few wild swimming spots that feels both safe and scenic. There’s space to picnic, paddle, and sunbathe on the rocks, and the surrounding trails offer plenty of options for longer walks.
