(Moderate, 3 miles, ~1.25 hrs direct out-and-back / 5 miles, ~2 hrs circular route via Eccles House)
Just west of Chapel-en-le-Frith, Eccles Pike offers a short but rewarding climb to one of the Peak District’s finest viewpoints. The summit, marked by a cast-metal topograph, reveals sweeping 360° views—from Combs Reservoir and Mam Tor to the distant skyline of Manchester. Topped with distinctive pink gritstone and surrounded by peaceful farmland, it’s a quieter alternative to the big-name peaks—ideal for a brisk morning walk or a sunset stroll from Chapel.
The longer circular route via Eccles House winds through quiet lanes, green meadows, and historic hamlets. It passes Eccles House and Moult Farm, follows part of the old Peak Forest Tramway, and gently ascends to the summit. At around 5 miles, it’s a moderate walk with varied scenery—perfect for guests seeking a peaceful yet rewarding walk close to home.
